She is one of the biggest writers in Hollywood, the mastermind and creator behind hit shows like Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy and How to Get Away With Murder. But even though her shows are filled with strong female leads and powerful monologues, Shonda is a self-proclaimed introvert. Her sister confronting her about this made her challenge herself to dedicate a year to saying yes to every opportunity that came her way as revealed in the book which also doubles as her memoir. In it she discusses her fear of having all eyes on her which led her to saying no to every opportunity her publicist would put in front of her. She also suffered panic attacks before media interviews. With three children and three hit television shows, it was easy for her to say she was simply too busy. But in truth, she was afraid.  A poignant, intimate, and hilarious, the book chronicles her life after her year of ‘Yes’ began,  when she learned to explore, empower, applaud and love her truest self. Best of all, through the book, she helps motivate even the ‘nerdest’ of nerds and introverts to get out and try something new.
