Dignitaries from both Kogi and Delta States made a show of gracing the wedding of Natasha Akpoti, a former Kogi State gubernatorial aspirant under the Social Democratic Party and her lover, Emmanuel Uduaguan, the Alema of Warri kingdom.
The duo got married on Saturday in a lavish ceremony at the bride’s hometown, Obeiba in Ihima local government area of Kogi state.
Those in attendance were Ifeanyi Okowa, governor of Delta State, Emmanuel Uduaghan, the immediate past governor of Delta State and a cousin to the groom, the Ohinoyi of Ebira land, His Majesty, King Ado Ibrahim as Chief Host, and a former National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun as Chairman.
Others were Godswill Akpabio, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs; the Olu of Warri, this Majesty Tsola Emiko, the groom’s cousins and former governor of Delta state, James Ibori, former Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, members of the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP led by the National Chairman, Dr Iyiorcha Ayu, Minister of State, Mines and Steel, Uche Ogah and a former Deputy Governor of Kogi state, Dr Philip Salawu among a host of others.
Conspicuously missing was the governor of the host state, Yahaya Bello of Kogi State. The governor despite being in town did not attend the wedding of Natasha who he considers as his political foe.
Natasha during the governorship election of the state had accused Yahaya Bello of the ruling All Progressives Congress party of attempting to assassinate her over her ambition to contest the senatorial seat.
Natasha alleged that apart from the governor threatening her in the presence of his aides, two of her supporters were killed at one of her campaigns.
Obviously, they are both yet to sheath their swords which explains why Bello wasn’t at the wedding.
Prior to the wedding, a pre wedding concert was put together by the couple for the people of Kogi State. Those who performed at the concert were 2Baba Idibia, Iyanya, Oritsefemi, Kizz Daniel, Daddy Showkey, Bovi, Faze, Danfo Driver and Praiz.
At the wedding proper, 2Baba, Itants, Oritsefemi and Kizz Daniel serenaded the couple and their guests.
