Hundreds of women and youths are currently not happy with the National Chairman of the ruling party, Adams Oshiomhole. They accused him of being responsible for the botched primaries of the party in the state and substituting four names of candidates who won the elections supervised by the Ibrahim Agbabiaka-led electoral committee with that of the dissolved Ahmed Gulak committee.

The angry protesters who marched through major streets in Owerri, barricaded roads in the state capital, alleging that the state was going through turbulent times politically because of what they described as Oshiomhole’s impunity and high-handedness. The protesters vowed not fold their arms and watch the national chairman of the party destroy APC in the state.

The South East leader of the Buhari Campaign Organisation (BCO), Ugochi Okoro, who spoke on behalf of the women and youths, said most members in the party left their various political parties for exact reason of arbitrariness and lack of regard for due process as being currently witnessed in the APC. Okoro said, “Oshiomhole should go back to his cocoon, we would not allow him to destroy the APC, this is the party where our governor was called all manner of names, today same people want to come and hijack the party, we say no.”

Speaking earlier, the South East Secretary General of BCO, Mr. Charles Amadi, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to call Oshiomhole to order, saying that the national chairman’s actions were capable of destabilising the party.
