The United Bank for Africa Group (UBA) has announced the appointment of Rokia Hacko, Chioma Mang, Chinedu Obeta, Bode Aregbesola, Kingsley Ulinfun and Usman Isiaka as CEO of six of its 20 subsidiaries across Africa, subject to local regulator approvals.
The new CEOs will be responsible for leading the Group’s strategy and activities in Mali, Uganda, Zambia, Senegal, Tanzania and Sierra Leone respectively. In addition, Ogechi Altraide has been appointed new head of retail banking; Amadou Konaté, Head of Treasury and International Payments for UBA America. These international appointments complement the previous appointments of Sola Yomi-Ajayi as MD UBA America and Patrick Gutmann new MD of UBA UK.
Earlier this month, UBA announced the appointment of Ayoku Liadi and Oliver Alawuba, respectively, as Deputy Managing Directors in charge of the Group’s activities in Nigeria and Africa, thus showing the importance of UBA’s African activities and of its strategic positioning as the “Global Bank for Africa”.
Speaking on these appointments, UBA Group President Tony O. Elumelu said: “The appointments reflect the strong growth of the Group’s pan-African activities, currently responsible for more than 40% of the Group’s total revenue and the growing importance of our international operations in London, Paris and New York, providing superior treasury, trading and banking solutions to businesses and clients around the world. We are committed to catalyzing growth on the African continent and the new DMDs are taking office at a very exciting time, as the Group is implementing its innovative digital solutions across the African continent ”.
In addition, the appointment of three new national executive directors was also announced namely Haoua Cissé as executive director of the large enterprise bank at UBA Mali and Julien Kouassi as executive director of the large enterprise bank at UBA Côte ivory.
