One of the biggest awards in South Africa held over the weekend as South African film and TV stars were celebrated and honoured at the 12th edition of the South Africa Film and TV Awards ceremony which held in the Sun City. The SAFTAs which is an annual celebration awarding the best film and television talent South Africa has to offer, was hosted by Thando Thabethe and PhatJoe. The awards were held over two nights with the first night celebrating the stars working behind the scenes on the technical side of film and television. The main awards show held the day after, on Saturday. The theme for the annual awards ceremony was ‘Our Stories Are Gold’, in honour of “those who have captured our hearts, minds and imaginations through the telling of our unique stories.”
