The drama that has trailed the union between Nollywood actress, Tonto Dike and her erstwhile husband, Olakunle Churchill in the last four months may finally come to an end if the latest action of Tonto Dike and members of her family is anything to go by. Elders in her family to whom her bride price was paid to when she held her traditional marriage in 2015, have returned it to her ex-husband, Olakunle Churchill in a brief ceremony.

In a letter titled ‘Return of Bride Price’ from the Dikeh’s extended family, that is the Rumuehio-Okania family, the letter states that both parties, that is Tonto Dikeh and Olakunle Churchill, have notified their respective families of their intention to dissolve the marriage and return the bride price.

The letter reads in part: “The family having been briefed and notified by both parties, thereto namely, Tonto Charity Churchill nee Dikeh and Olakunle Churchill, whose customary marriage was performed according to the custom of Rumuokwuta community. The parties have notified the community by themselves through their respective families by themselves, unwillingness to continue to live as husband and wife.

“The family having prevailed, cautioned and advised them against the decision, they have insisted to carry on with their intentions. The family is left with no option than to allow for peace and separation.”

The letter also states that both parties have accepted to refunds and receipts of the bride price. The letter ended with signatures from representatives of both families.

Tonto Dike and her now ex-husband have had a very turbulent relationship, one that came to the fore when Tonto openly admitted to her social media followers that the man she married was not the man she thought he was. She alleged that Olakunle didn’t have the kind of money he was flaunting around, that he infected her with STDs several times and that she was a victim of domestic violence, a claim she would later go into extensive explanation of in two separate interviews with alleged scars to show.

Olakunle not wanting to remain silence while his image is tarnished, refuted the allegations of domestic violence with proofs to show as well adding that Tonto is mentally unstable. Their media altercation extended to Olakunle’s mother whom he alleged Tonto was violent and rude to, as well as his ex-wife who suddenly took allegiance with Tonto Dikeh.

Hopefully, with the return of the bride price, both Tonto and Olakunle Churchill will move on with their respective lives in peace.

Meanwhile the actress is beyond herself with excitement as she took to her social media to express her joy with a simple caption; ‘The joy was indescribable’
