Toke Makinwa has revealed what led to her marriage with fitness expert, Maje Ayida, collapsing.

The media personality and entrepreneur also revealed her ex-husband’s reaction shortly after he confessed to her that someone else was having a child for him while they were married.

“I am going to be very honest, I could have stayed if it wasn’t so public,” she said.

Their marriage fell apart in 2015 when news broke that Maje was expecting a child from his side chic, Anita Solomon.

In a chat with Chude Jideonwo, Toke said she was asleep on the same bed with Maje when the news broke.

She said singer, IcePrince, called her at about 2am to check up on her when the news broke, and at the time, she was still in the dark about what was going on.

She said Maje initially denied but later admitted he was expecting a child with Anita.

She said he ordered food from their chef while she cried on the floor over the sad development.

She said, “When it broke out on the blogs I was sleeping and IcePrince called me at 2am to console me.

“My then-husband was laying right beside me. Ice is like ‘are you ok?’. I was like ‘Yeah, why’. He said that I should sleep but I should know that whatever happens, they got my back,” she said.

On his initial reaction after she heard the news, Toke said Maje denied initially but later confessed.

“Right after he confessed, he still had the guts to ask our chef to give him food and he still ate while I was on the floor crying,” she said.

On who is responsible for her lavish lifestyle, Makinwa attributed it to Jesus, contrary to insinuations that a politician or socialite was bank rolling her lifestyle.

She also talked about her late parents, who died during a fire incident.

She said: “My mum was 33 with four kids when she died. I am 36 with no kids and I cannot even imagine what went through her mind in the last moments, knowing she might not make it and leaving four kids behind.”
