Over the weekend, on air personality, Toke Makinwa changed the lives of four people when they all walked away with the total sum of N3.5m at the grand finale of her On Becoming empowerment programme which she launched a month ago. While three business owners got N1m each, the fourth business owner got the sum of N500,000 from the On Becoming empowerment grant, to help them further ‘become some more’ on their business journey. The four people chosen in business were people with amazing ideas but need support to go further.

The disbursement of the funds was preceded by an empowerment lecture delivered by speakers such as comedian, Tee A, media entrepreneur, Adebola Williams, ace photographer, Kelechi Amadi-Obi, television presenter and business woman, Tallulah Doherty, actress and television host, Stephanie Aderinokun, makeup artist, Anita Brows, chef, Gbugbemi, actress, Toyin Abraham and television presenter, Bolanle Olukanni.

The whole essence of the empowerment lecture was for the speakers to tell their stories and impact a selected few of 30 young entrepreneurs from whom the final four were chosen. Toke Makinwa hopes to make this an annual venture with next year’s grant already carved out for education.
