Tinsel actor, Victor Olaotan passes on

Nigerian movie industry lost another gem as veteran Nollywood actor Victor Olaotan, who had a ghastly motor accident nearly four years ago, has died.

Nigerian movie industry lost another gem as veteran Nollywood actor Victor Olaotan, who had a ghastly motor accident nearly four years ago, has died.

Before his death, Mr. Olaotan for about seven years breathed real life into the character of Fred Ade Williams on the Mnet long-running soap Tinsel.

Olaotan died on Thursday, August 26.

Although details of his death are still sketchy, it would be recalled that the actor was earlier flown to Turkey for prompt medical attention after he became incapacitated following the car accident he was involved in, along the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway when he was driving to a movie set.

Many well-meaning Nigerians, philanthropists including billionaire Femi Otedola,  his colleagues, costars of the hit series, Tinsel, who made a public appeal to fans came to his rescue financially.

Victor Olaotan who was born in Lagos in the early ’50s, studied drama at the University of Ibadan, at the Obafemi Awolowo University, and at Rockets University, United States.

An accomplished stage and screen actor, Olaotan warmed his way into the consciousness of television viewers, playing the leading role in Tinsel.
