Even though boss of Chocolate City, Audu Maikori is a free man today, his ordeal with Kaduna State governor, Mallam El Rufau is far from over as there are indications that he would be prosecuted for making an inciting statement that was capable of inflaming the crisis in Southern Kaduna. The Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, said Maikori was being investigated over his inflammatory tweets, adding that he would be arraigned in court soon.

Recall that the lawyer was arrested by the Nigerian Police on Friday over ‘inciting comments’ he made on social media on Southern Kaduna killings where he alleged that five students of Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya, Kafanchan, were murdered by Fulani herdsmen.  He had tweeted that his driver’s younger brother and five others students of college of education Gidan Waya were ambushed and killed by herdsmen in Southern Kaduna.

But the school’s management denied that any of its students was killed. Maikori had retracted the tweets and apologised for the wrong information claiming that he was misled by his driver, who himself was an indigene of Southern Kaduna.

Not long after his release which was effected by former minister, Oby Ezekwesili, Audu took to twitter to thank everyone who rallied round him with their voice.

“Yesterday I was released on bail due to the immense support and voice of all the great people in Nigeria. I do not take your support lightly. Even though my agitations were for #SouthernKaduna, the whole of Nigeria spoke with one voice and showed that we aren’t as divided as they say. The agitations are about a #free Nigeria, freedom of speech and upholding democracy. It is not about religion, ethnicity or politics. God bless.”
