The Other Side of Midnight, is a book written by Ojulari Olasunkanmi a Lagos based nightlife entrepreneur.

However, his book bears the same title with a novel written by American writer, Sidney Sheldon and published in 1973

The book was then made into a 1977 film and is followed by a sequel written by same author titled Memories of Midnight.

According to Olawunkanmi who goes by the appellation, Sunky O, his is not just a book, it is his legacy.

“After my docuseries on Nightlife in Lagos, The Other Side of Midnight was the next step in driving the conversation about an industry that never sleeps. The evolution, the culture, the untold stories—I’m bringing it all to light.”

The socialite, and CEO of TheSunkyO Lifestyle Company, launched his new non-fiction work last month which is a deep expose into the workings of the nightlife industry, its inherent commercial opportunities, and many surrounding misconceptions.

As part of the book discussion, the author went down a rabbit hole of his personal experiences in nightlife, beginning from his first job as a show promoter in his university days and subsequent career growth.

He emphasized the many security challenges and sociocultural implications of being affiliated with the nightlife industry, especially the stigma attached to such jobs as bartending, disc-jockeying, and event planning.

Sunkanmi points out the many commercial opportunities in nightlife, citing the industry as a promising career choice for individuals across all walks of life.

While formal education is not necessarily a qualification for such jobs, the author noted that soft skills like interpersonal communication, time management, problem-solving, and adaptability was key to success in roles in the nightlife industry.
