Following two successful editions, Lagos Cocktail Week (LCW), a festival that celebrates the unique cocktail culture in Nigeria through events, seminars and training sessions, returned amidst pomp and excitement. The cocktail festival which is a creation of the CEO of Eventi Cocktails, Lara Rawa, is aimed at educating on cocktail culture both locally and internationally, inform on global trends and entertain individuals, businesses and corporations. This year’s event maintained the standard the event is known for; an array of activities such as master classes, mixologists brunch, a ‘team bar’ hop and discount on various cocktails. The five-day event which held at Wheatbaker Hotel, ended with a competition among competing bars in Lagos, aimed at boosting the morale of bartenders and mixologists working at various bars. Different bars converged to showcase their best repertoire of cocktails and presentations.
Cocktail experts looked out for the best mix and skill set, to which the competing bars did not fail to go beyond expectations, as there were surprises, tricks, fresh mixes and discoveries. The bar battle, a new idea was aimed at creating a healthy competition amongst mixologists to attract a form of camaraderie and brand loyalty. The winner, a bartender with the host hotel, ended up being crowned the Face of Lagos Cocktail 2016. This year’s edition of the Lagos Cocktail week has set the standard for the cocktail industry in Lagos and has crowned Lagos the cocktail capital of West Africa.
