The duo of Temilade Openiyi aka Tems and Damini Ogulu aka Burna Boy were among the megastars in attendance at the star-studded gathering of the fashion world at the 2023 Met Gala.

While Burna Boy looked regal in a matching Burberry black and blue checkered outfit with a cape-like extension sweeping behind him, Tems was an avian princess in a Robert Wun-designed dress with its black corset top adorned with feathers alongside a distinct headpiece.

This will be the second time Nigeria will be represented at the prestigious event.

The first time saw Grammy and Tony award winner, Cynthia Erivo garbed in Louis Vuitton at the 2022 edition.

Met Gala, the most anticipated fashion event of the year unites the biggest global stars from across the film, television, and music industries.

This year’s event was is in honour of the life and work of Karl Lagerfeld, the late fashion designer took place at the usual venue, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

The star-studded guest list had Rihanna, Serena Williams, Jennifer Lopez, Lil Nas X, Rihanna, Lizzo, Tems, Gabrielle Union, Dwayne Wade, and Billie Eilish in attendance.

Others include Naomi Campbell, Ice Spice, Taika Waititi, Cara Delevingne, Margot Robbie, Keke Palmer, Lily Collins, Kim Kardashian, and Florence Pugh.

The Met Gala is an annual fundraising event for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. It marks the grand opening of the costume institute’s annual fashion exhibit.

The invitation-only fundraiser hosted about 400 guests.
