Almost five years after he threw the doors of Lagos Marriott Hotel, situated in Ikeja GRA, Lagos open to the general public, businessman Dr. Taiwo Olayinka Afolabi, founder of Sifax Group is all set to build another luxurious hotel.
The new addition, a 100-room hotel to be called Courtyard by Marriott will be situated next door to the imposing Lagos Marriott Hotel. Courtyard by Marriott is one of the brands under the Marriott Hotel flagship and the concept is a more affordable brand done bistro style for business and luxury travellers. It will be built on a smaller property space compared to the upper-class Marriott brand in lower demand areas. But it would still have all the world-class facilities expected of a Marriott Hotel. Unlike the 250-room Lagos Marriott Hotel, which took about 7 years to build to exacting standards, Courtyard by Marriott is set to open sometime in 2027, about 24 months duration.
Afolabi recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for the hotel with his wife, Mrs. Folasade Afolabi, Chike Ogeah, HRM Alaiyeluwa, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, Telu I, Oluwo of Iwo in attendance etc. in attendance.

A successful businessman by all standards, Afolabi has his hand in several lucrative pies across different sections of the economy spanning aviation, hospitality, maritime, logistics, oil and gas. His SIFAX Group is said to be Africa’s fastest growing conglomerate.
