Sosoliso plane crash survivor, Kelechi Okwuchi wows judges at ‘America’s Got Talent’

One of two survivors of the 2015 Sosoliso plane crash in Port Harcourt, Kelechi Okwuchi showed the stuff she is made of when she appeared as a contest

One of two survivors of the 2015 Sosoliso plane crash in Port Harcourt, Kelechi Okwuchi showed the stuff she is made of when she appeared as a contestant at the ‘America’s Got Talent’ show, singing a one of British singer, Ed Sheeran’s songs, ‘Thinking out loud’ to the delight of the audience and the judges; Mel B, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum and Howie Mendel.

Kelechi then, 16 and a student of Loyola Jesuit College, Abuja, survived the ill-fated Port Harcourt bound flight which crashed on the runway and killed 107 people, including her close friend who was sitting next to her and late Pastor Bimbo Odukoya. One of two survivors, she was on her way home in Port Harcourt for the holidays when the crash happened.

Despite her challenges, with over 100 surgeries, including skin grafts in the US as a result of the severe burns all over her body, Kelechi has not stopped reaching for the skies. She is a First Class graduate of the University of Thomas Houston, Texas. Not only was she inducted into six academic honor societies, she was the most outstanding student for her major in Economics and has already been accepted into graduate school for her MBA.
