The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has declared socialite and business woman, Aisha Achimugu wanted.
In a post on its social media pages on Friday, Dele Oyewale, the commission’s spokesperson, said “Achimugu, 51, is an indigene of Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State and her last known address is: 6C, Rudolf Close, Maitama, Abuja”.
IvoryNG had reported that the anti graft agency invited her for questioning. But rather than honour the invitation, she fled the country to evade interrogation and arrest.
She then launched a media campaign to not only deny being investigated by the EFCC but also insisting that the story was false and was the handiwork of unscrupulous elements.
She further urged the public to disregard the supposed ‘fake news.’
To counter the intense media campaigns which promoted a false narrative, IvoryNG published details of a letter written by the anti-graft agency and signed by Adebayo Adeniyi, EFCC’s acting zonal director in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The letter dated March 4 was sent to Achimugu’s residential address in Abuja.
“This commission is currently investigating a case in which the need to obtain certain clarification from you becomes imperative. In view of the above, you are kindly requested to attend an interview with the undersigned through the Head of Investigation on Wednesday, 5th March 2025, by 10:00 hours prompt,” the letter read.
With her discreet departure from the country, it was only a matter of time before an arrest warrant was secured, and subsequently declaring her wanted.
Known for throwing lavish parties, wearing designer outfits and generally living a jet-set lifestyle, she commands attention wherever she goes.
