The judge of America’s Got Talent has released a new single for victims of the Grenfell Tower. The charity single is the cover version of his and Garfunkel’s ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ which features more than 50 stars including Stormzy, Rita Ora, Robbie Williams and more, all of who assembled last weekend, following the blaze in the Grenfell London tower block that has 79 dead, missing or presumed dead.

The single is expected to raise money for survivors of the devastating fire. Speaking to Daily Mirror, Simon said, “In all the years of doing this, I have never felt so emotional. It was unbelievably powerful and sincere. I felt how everyone felt when they saw the news. I was angry, upset, thinking what the hell do you do? It’s not far from where I live, so when I drove up there, and you saw this tower, it wasn’t great. And that’s when you decide that maybe we could do something to help. You kind of think, what can I do? Do you donate some money and I was thinking, well maybe we could do a little more than that and that’s how the record came about.”

Beginning with a rap that promises ‘I refuse to forget you, I refuse to be silenced, I refuse to neglect you,’ the track is a ballad of resilience and support. The song will be on iTunes, Apple Music and Spotify.

Meanwhile, the entertainment mogul has already donated £100,000 to the fund benefiting the fire’s victims.
