A book of bombshells is what best describe former professional basketballer, Lamar Odom’s memoir, ‘Darkness to Light’ which was released two months ago. He cheated in high school exams
Odom almost failed out of high school and admitted that he paid a pastor named John Massey Jr. $15,000 to alter three of his failing grades to A’s and B’s. The former NBA star also confessed that he wasn’t a good test-taker and so arranged for someone else to take his SATs. While the person who took the standardized test in Odom’s place did not get caught, his score of 1200 raised red flags, as the athlete was a C student, and caused the University of Nevada, Las Vegas to rescind his scholarship.
He had orgies at his home in Miami
The athlete remembered crazy parties at his home in Miami in the early 2000s, specifically one event that turned into a full-blown orgy. He recalled, “People were having sex in the pool, the Jacuzzi, on the lawn, in chairs, standing up against a heat lamp. The party stretched into the wee hours, until every last fantasy had been fulfilled and every desire met.”
He used a fake black cock to pass a drug test before the Olympics
Prior to the 2004 Olympic Games, Odom purchased a giant rubber black cock to pass a drug test. The Los Angeles Lakers alum enlisted the help of his trainer, Robbie David, who peed inside the fake penis. Lamar Odom’s sex addiction caused him to throw caution to the wind, often sleeping with women without using protection. These encounters, he said, led to several unwanted pregnancies. “I’ve paid for plenty of abortions over the years. I’m not proud of it. It’s the law and legal, but I don’t feel proud about it at all,” he said.
He overdosed for the first time in the mid-2000s
Lamar explained that the first time he overdosed felt strange. “Time slowed down. I couldn’t swallow, I couldn’t breathe.” Odom was rushed to the University of Miami Hospital, where doctors gave him an IV of fluids and diagnosed him with dehydration. “I knew the truth,” he wrote.
He cheated on Taraji P. Henson
Lamar Odom and actress, Taraji P Henson dated in the past, and while he felt extremely connected to her, he let his demons get in the way and cheated. “God gave me a layup and I blew it. I felt guilty, but I was craving immediate sex,” he said.
He threatened to kill Khloé Kardashian during a drug-fueled argument
The Olympian called the time he forcefully grabbed his ex-wife and threatened her, the most regrettable moment in his life. One day during their marriage, Odom was high on drugs and got angry with Kardashian for coming into his room. He screamed at her: “You trying to embarrass me in front of my friends? I’ll fucking kill you! You don’t know what I’m capable of!”
He can’t remember how many times he cheated on his ex-wife, Khloe Kardashian
Cheating was a regular part of Odom’s relationship with the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star. “I had broken my vows with Khloé so many times it’s just impossible for me to remember them all. I don’t know why Khloé stayed with me,” he wrote.
Odom reflected on the incident where he says Kardashian beat the s—t out of a stripper, whom she caught him with in a hotel room. “She opened the door and pounced on the first girl she saw,” he wrote.
He regrets his 2015 Las Vegas overdose
After he overdosed at Vegas’ Love Ranch in 2015, Odom knew he needed to make a change in his life. “I regret it to this day,” he said of the near-fatal incident, which left him with ruptured kidneys, collapsed lungs and a heart that stopped twice. Fortunately, the athlete survived the OD and had his ex-wife and former sister-in-law, Kim Kardashian were by his side during his recovery.
“[Khloé] didn’t shower for four days and brushed her teeth in a small room next door. Kim’s resilience was incredible too,” he remembered.
He was offered a post-OD reality series
Although Odom’s family staged an intervention after he got out of the hospital, he didn’t go to rehab right away. It was only after a production company contacted him about doing a reality series titled Rebound about his life after death that he agreed to get help.
