This revelation which isn’t quite news in certain quarters is coming over four years after the ex-governor left office. He served between 2007 and 2015. In the petition which the EFCC has began investigations on, the former governor not only squandered over N150billion while also withdrawing N500m monthly for unexplained reasons while he was chief staff to a former governor, Orji Uzor Kalu who is currently cooling his heels in jail over the looting of the state’s funds; his son it was discovered, also operates about a 100 bank accounts with over half of that number still very much active.

These bank account, both corporate and individual accounts, he used to launder money for his father. The petition claimed these accounts received so much deposit in cash without evidence of job or services rendered.

The petition which is dated alleged that T.A Orji received and diverted various sums of monies that accrued to Abia State. Such monies included N383 billion revenue from federal accounts, N55 billion from Excess Crude Revenue, N2.3 billion Sure-P, N1.8 billion Ecological funds, N10.5 billion loan from First Bank of Nigeria through the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Local Government Affairs and N4 billion Loan from Diamond Bank. Others were N12 billion Paris Club refund, N2 billion Agricultural loan for farmer and N55 billion ASOPADEC funds.
