It is being alleged that there is a no love lost situation between the current first lady of Lagos State, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, and her predecessor, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola. Those who claim to be in the know say both women don’t see eye to eye and they don’t have a cordial relationship. A mild drama played out at an event prompting many to conclude that indeed both women are at logger heads. At a well attended not too long ago, the perceived bad blood between the two was brought to the fore when Bolanle Ambode arrived at the event ahead of Abimbola Fashola and was seated at the high table alongside several VIPs. When Abimbola arrived, she refused to sit at the high table despite repeated entreaties by the master of ceremonies. At the behest of the event’s hosts, some prominent women, including socialite, Tai Elemosho-Okesanjo, were sent to usher her to the high table but she stood her ground. Also, when Ambode was exiting the occasion, many expected her to stop by Abimbola’s table to exchange pleasantries but nothing of the sort happened. Not many have wondered at what could have been the real cause of the bad blood between them especially as shortly before the swearing-in ceremony of the Ambode’s as the next occupants of the Lagos State Government house, Abimbola Fashola had taken the pains to welcome Bolanle; shown her the ropes, introduced her to those that matter and generally took her in as a younger sibling.
