Isaac Godwin, a clergyman and senior pastor of The Nuture Centre church located in Abuja, has been accused of allegedly raping a minor who is a member of his church. The victim is a 15-year-old who has had to drop out of school because of the traumatic experience. The victim’s father who goes by the name Bless Dan on X formerly known as Twitter, said that he allegedly got Godwin arrested but he made bail and is currently walking a free man.
Bless Dan is divorced, and his children stay with his estranged wife.
He said that Godwin told his daughter she would suffer from kidney failure should she fail to heed his instructions not to tell a soul about the rape incidence. He also said that he went to where the said church is located and realised it has been shut down.
A cursory look at Godwin’s social media page shows his last post to be on August 27, 2023. Godwin according to the father of the victim is reportedly connected as one of his (Godwin) parents is a retired judge.
And what is more, Godwin is alleged to be a relation of controversial opinionated social media critic, Reno Omokri. Omokri, a former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan and a supposed staunch supporter of Atiku Abubakar, a former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the 2023 general election is yet to say anything about the matter. This is very unlike his very vocal nature where he has something to say about virtually every subject matter under the sun.
“All I want is justice. I want a Nigeria where everybody can have access to justice. You raped my daughter and molested her. He was arrested but is now a free man as he was granted bail. I don’t know how many people his victims are but I am calling on well-meaning Nigerians to help me get justice for my daughter,” Bless Dan cried on X.
