Almost six months after he celebrated his 60th birthday in faraway Saudi Arabia, Rasaq Olarenwaju, the Chief Executive Officer of Lamex Group of Companies had cause to celebrate again. This time, he feted dignitaries, family and friends in honour of the life and legacy of his late mother, Amudiatu Mohammed.
The party took place during the week at the Balmoral Hall, Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.
Gbenga Adeyinka, comedian and Master of Ceremony steered proceedings at the party as he kept the crowd entertained with his lively humour.
The Chairman of Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government, Fatai Ayoola, and the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force, Muyiwa Adejobi, also graced the occasion with their presence.
Other high-profile guests included the CEO of SIFAX Group, Taiwo Afolabi; Olugbon of Orile Igbon, Oba Francis Alao; and popular businesswoman, Abibat Odunbaku-Bello of Abike Lagos Fabrics. Also spotted were socialite, Rihanat Ajayi, aka TKO Ajayi, and other key figures from Nigeria’s business and entertainment scenes.
The highlight of the ocassion was the electrifying performance by Wasiu Ayinde, aka K1 De Ultimate. As he sang, guests couldn’t resist the pull of the dance floor, as they swayed to his soulful melodies.
No detail was overlooked in treating the guests to a royal experience. Guests were treated to lavish buffet tables with steaming platters of jollof rice and assorted meats, washed down with cocktails and wines.
In his tribute to his late mother, Olanrewaju described her as a pillar of kindness, wisdom and grace.
“Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the values she instilled in us,” he said, his voice filled with emotion.
A successful businessman who made his fortune from the Clearing and Forwarding business, Lamex was once a big-time distributor with Conoil running a thriving fuel station in Lagos as well.
He has invested in the hospitality business but more than anything else, the affable socialite enjoys flaunting his highly inflated link Dr. Mike Adenuga, the Chairman of Globacom.
60 year old Lamex, who has always had a weakness for beautiful women. He has been linked with quite a number of them. One of his regular female companions was a beautiful lawmaker from Lagos State. At one point he was married to four women.
