Having received a letter from the Nigerian police inviting him to address the allegations leveled against him by arrested suspects of the Offa robbery incidence, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has been told that it is no longer necessary from him to appear at any station, but to respond in writing to the allegations within 48 hours. This latest development may not be unconnected to the a meeting held earlier today by the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN).
The meeting which was held behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja was also attended by the Director-General of the Department of State Security, Lawal Daura, perhaps in connection with the withdrawal of some of the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives’ security details. When State House correspondents approached the police boss at the end of the meeting, he declined to make a comment about the outcome of the meeting.
