Despite putting out a disclaimer via his label management that he is not wanted by the police in connection with a robbery attack on fellow singer, Mr 2Kay at the Eko Hotel and Suites, late last month, the Lagos State Police command is insisting that Burna Boy is still on the run and is still being wanted.

Two days ago, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgar Imohimi had earlier announced at a press conference that Damini Ogulu more popularly known as Burna Boy had a case to answer as the robbers he had sent to attack and rob Mr 2Kay had not only been apprehended but they also confessed to being sent by Burna Boy via his manager, Joel Kantiock.

The robbers had confessed that they were paid an initial deposit of 50 thousand naira before the attack and a balance of 50 thousand naira after the attack. Some of the items stolen from him were an Audemais Piquet (AP), automatic gold wristwatch worth $25,000, gold jewellery valued at N1.5million, mobile phones, a pair of Adidas shoes, cash and perfumes to the thieves who posed as hotel workers.

In response, Burna’s management issued a statement saying he was never declared wanted by the police, nor served with an arrest warrant but had gone of his own volition to the police who cleared him of any wrong doing. However the Lagos Police Command insists that this is not true and he is on the run.

“The Lagos state Police Command would like to inform members of the public that Damini Ogulu a.k.a ‘Burna Boy’ is yet to report himself to the police and is still on the run contrary to reports making the rounds on the internet that the musician has honoured police invitation. The command would also like to inform the public that only Burna Boy’s father, one Samuel Ogulu visited the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) in-charge of the case with the promise to bring Burna Boy before the police. The Command however uses this medium to urge Burna Boy’s father and relatives to do right by bringing the musician and turning him to the police before the long arm of the law catches up with him. The command assures that justice will be done,” the statement read.
