Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State and erstwhile presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally joined the Labour Party  (LP).

Welcoming Obi, the LP wrote: “Dear Peter Obi, welcome to the Labour Party  the Party of Productivity.

Obi will be contesting in the party’s presidential primary election next Tuesday.

He registered as a member of the party on Friday in his ward in Anambra State.

Recall that Obi in a letter addressed to the National Chairman of the PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, had  announced his resignation from the party saying recent developments within the party had made it impossible for him to continue in the presidential race.
