Paul Arisa, the 28-year-old graduate of Estate Management from Abia State University who went viral last year after his friends solicited for help for him online to fight cancer, but unfortunately lost the battle, has finally been laid to rest. He was buried in his home state of Abia today.

Recall that in February of last year, his friend had taken to his face book page to solicit for funds. 8000 pounds precisely, on his behalf for the treatment of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, which was what he was diagnosed of by the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital.

After about a year of chemotherapy, the tumour started to increase in size until it became a very huge neck mass and subsequently started affecting the left cervical lymph node, axillary and groin lymph node. When no remarkable results were achieved, the doctors advised that radiotherapy could prove more effective.

Unfortunately due to the high cost of the radiotherapy treatment at almost 2million Naira, Paul was unable to continue treatment as he had racked up 5months of unpaid Chemotherapy treatments.

The Abia State governor Dr Okezie as well as some well meaning individuals responded. In fact Paul was said to have been recovering, but unfortunately lost the battle last month.
