Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, the shepherd in charge of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG City of David Parish, Region 20, Victoria Island, Lagos, has been removed from his position.

He has been suspended for three months by the Governing Council of the church and a panel set up to investigate some of the allegations against him and the parish.

A new Pastor, Kayode Pitan has been named as his replacement.

The transfer was officially confirmed yesterday, Sunday, June 2, during the monthly thanksgiving service held across all RCCG branches worldwide.

He has now been moved to RCCG Throne of Grace, Ebute Metta, Lagos, which serves as the headquarters of the mission.

Senior RCCG elders including retired National Overseer Pastor Obayemi, Pastor Johnson Odesola, and Region 9 leader, Pastor Pandel were present at City of David yesterday to implement the change of guard.

Pastor Idowu and his wife, Pastor Siju, were conspicuously absent during the service.

The thanksgiving service was unusually brief and Pastor Trevor Akindele, the assistant pastor held forth during the service.

Pastor ID as he is fondly called and his wife, Siju have been synonymous with the church for so long.

Rumours about the potential removal of Pastor Idowu from City of David have been flying round for a while before now -especially following the widespread condemnation that greeted his wife’s 60th birthday celebration around the time of the demise of Access Bank CEO, Herbert Wigwe who was a frontline member of their church.

Pastor Idowu remains silent over this new development, but sources said he is not comfortable with the decision. It also remains unclear if he would stay in the RCCG, going forward.
