In preparation for his upcoming 50th birthday celebrations, Nollywood actor, Saidi Balogun was recently hosted by Oyo State House of Assembly as a renowned son of the soil. Led by the state House of Assembly Speaker, Hon. Michael Adeshina, the members assured him of their support and presence in the series of events leading up to the grand finale of his birthday.
Recall that the Saidi has been at logger heads with colleague, Lizzy Anjorin over the clash of the chosen date for both of their events. Lizzy is set to premiere her new movie, ‘Owo Naira Bet’ next month and had used every available means possible to publicize the event long before Saidi Balogun announced his week long birthday activities,
Both actors chose the same date, July 7th for their events but what makes it even more interesting is the fact that Saidi is one of the casts in Lizzy’s movie. So she therefore feels betrayed that Saidi would be insensitive enough to fix the grand finale of his birthday celebrations on the same day.
Her deductions is that most of the guests and celebrities would be torn between which of the events to attend with many most likely attending Saidi’s party. Saidi has however defended his actions saying that he was compelled to postpone his birthday celebrations which had already been fixed due to the series of deaths that has plagued the Yoruba movie industry, as a mark of respect for the departed.
Quite a number of high level individuals have tried to resolve the issue between them but Lizzy would have none of it. Obviously there is no backing down from either party as Saidi is forging on with his own plans.
