The shopping complex in Osogbo Post Office, Osun State got razed down by an inferno Saturday night.

The cause of the fire tragedy has not been disclosed by the authorities although it came shortly after an orgy of violence enveloped the town with a physical attack on the convoy of the state governor, Adegboyega Oyetola by hoodlums.

The shopping complex, located around M.D S area of the town went up in flames around 8’30 p.m. The old, colonial era building was comprehensively destroyed.

Also, on Saturday night, miscreants reportedly attacked a shopping mall at Fakunle area in the town looting multi million naira goods. The hoodlums took advantage of the security gaps in the aftermath of the pandemonium that broke out during the EndSARS protest by youths.

The hoodlums stormed the mall shortly after the attack on the governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, at the centre of the protest at Olaiya in Osogbo.

The hoodlums vandalized and looted many shops in the mall and carted phone, laptops and other valuable items away. They also vandalized the Oja-Oba police station and smashed a car which was an exhibit.

It was learnt that the hoodlums moved to Sabo and extorted people there, forcefully collecting money from commercial drivers and motorcyclists
