It has been seven weeks of waiting and putting the lives of medical workers at risk as Osmoserve Global Limited is yet to make available the medical equipment and consumables it collected N4.9billion for via a contract from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

On April 6th, the NDDC had awarded contracts to some companies for the supply of covid-19 intervention essentials and Osmoserve Global Limited got the largest share of the intervention contract totaling N4.9billion for the emergency procurement of medical consumables and equipment, including PPE and covid-19 test kits. But up till date, the company is yet to make them available even as health workers in the Niger Delta region keep complaining of the shortage of medical equipment and essentials to enable them carry out their duties with as little risk as possible.

Besides the, fact that the contract for the procurement of these medical essentials was awarded without due process, Osmoserve is said to have earned the reputation of being a party to phoney contracts with the NDDC with many stakeholders calling for a forensic probe of the company as well as blacklisting it.

Owned by wealthy businessman, Scott Tommey, Osmoserve’s tentacles are spread across various sectors of the economy including oil and gas.
