A former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Timi Frank, has accused the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, of allegedly collecting over $50m from different aspirants and candidates during the last primaries of the party. Frank said a large percentage of the money was paid to Oshiomhole through proxies from Imo, Zamfara, Adamawa and Ogun States among others.

Recall that the Department of State Services had interrogated Oshiomhole after some APC governors alleged that he received bribes during the party’s primary elections across the country. The former APC spokesman threatened to publish the names and amounts paid to lobby the National Chairman to clear aspirants and substitute the names of duly elected candidates with those that failed.

But dismissing the allegations as unfounded, Oshiomhole described Timi Frank as an unstable character not deserving of attention adding that he is a political jobber looking for cheap popularity. He challenged Frank to publish the names of the alleged bribe giver or face a legal action.

Frank alleged that the DSS had presented its report and findings against Oshiomhole to President Muhammadu Buhari who was still in a dilemma on what to do. Frank, however, called on the President to act on the recommendations of the DSS by ordering Oshiomhole’s sacking and prosecution, if his government was actually fighting corruption or opposition.
“We shall wait to see how the acclaimed anti-corruption regime will act on this particular issue. This same Oshiomhole has been attacking the Senate President, calling on him to resign on moral grounds. Can Oshiomhole now step aside while the investigation into his financial malfeasance is ongoing to justify his much talked about morality,” Frank asked.

Just yesterday, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki had asked the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, to quit politics. Saraki said based on allegations leveled against Oshiomhole, he had no right to remain the APC chairman, let alone remain in politics.

But Oshiomhole described the attack on him by the Senate president as unwarranted, pathetic and irresponsible resort to petty politics. According to him, Saraki as a usurper of and pretender to the position of senate president, has no moral grounds to call for his resignation as national chairman of the APC. Threatening to sue the Senate president, he challenged him to mention one aspirant that allegedly gave him money.

“Oshiomhole has no locus standi to talk about morality in today’s Nigeria’s politics. That must be a joke coming from Oshiomhole talking about moral ground. Oshiomhole is somebody who has been told to have been collecting not even naira but dollars from candidates and he is being accused by his party’s aspirants and governors. I don’t think he has any moral ground, even to continue to be in politics not to talk about being a chairman of a party. I remember in those days even Oyegun, they never accused him of something like this. I have left that party. I’m sure the president, based on integrity, knows the right thing to do. So, on moral ground, he cannot speak on moral ground,” Timi Frank said.
