That the love between Omosedei Igbinedion and the newly sworn in Liberian president, George Weah, never abated is not in doubt and long after their relationship ended, the two have remained very close friends with some insinuating that there may perhaps be more to their closeness than meets the eye. For President George Weah’s inauguration, the honourable member of the House of Representative and daughter to the Esama of Benin Kingdom, went all out to make it a memorable one for him.

Right from when the results of the Liberian elections were announced and the former footballer became president-elect, Omosedei Igbinedion has been beyond herself with joy, utilizing every moment and platform to celebrate and eulogize the man she was once in a relationship with that never ended in marriage. And for his inauguration, she overreached herself. The mother of one not only chartered a private plane, she got quite a number of her friends to accompany her to the inauguration and made sure they were all decked out in expensive blue aso ebi lace with over the top jewelries to match. And boy were they the cynosure of all eyes. They got into Liberia a day before the inauguration and stayed till after the inauguration before heading back home. Unfortunately, the love story between the two would have had a happy ending if President George Weah was not married.

Recall that Omosedei was once his girlfriend but her parents kicked against the relationship and wanted her to marry from a Benin Royal family rather than to a non Nigerian who was a footballer for that matter. She would later leave President George to do her parent’s bidding and marry a Benin Prince, Prince Akenzua. Unfortunately, the marriage which produced a boy did not last beyond two years as it eventually hit the rock and ever since then, Omosedei who is still in her prime has remained unmarried. It remains to be seen if they will both be bold enough to make their wish come true.
