Nordstrom has confirmed that it has dropped Ivanka Trump’s line from its stores. The move follows several months of boycotts via the #GrabYourWallet campaign. Many had noticed that Ivanka’s products which include shoes, clothing, and accessories had largely disappeared from Nordstrom’s website and her name removed from the store’s master list of available brands. While the company maintains it was purely a business decision, the move is being widely interpreted as a response to the months-long #GrabYourWallet campaign. Prior to the presidential election, the campaign saw consumers boycotting Nordstrom and other retailers selling products with ties to President Donald Trump and his family. This marks a turnaround for Nordstrom, which had initially refused to stop selling Ivanka Trump’s line.
“We hope that offering a vendor’s products isn’t misunderstood as us taking a political position,” the retailer tweeted. “We’re not.”
But it’s hard to see the decision to cut ties with Ivanka’s increasingly controversial brand as completely apolitical as her father wreaks havoc in the White House.
