The Intelligence Response Team IRT headquarters, Abuja, are beyond themselves with excitement as they have recorded success with the arrest of the most notorious high profile kidnapper in the history of Nigeria. His case is peculiar as Evans who has collected billions of naira as ransom over the last 7yrs as the kingpin of kidnappers, has eluded authorities for years.

Said to be the richest and the craftiest kidnapper in the country, he was arrested by 1pm today, Saturday June 10th in his mansion at Magodo estate, Lagos.  His real name is Chukwudidumeme Onuamadike with Evans as his alias and is a native of Nnewi, Nnewi north LGA of Anambra state. Aged 36 yrs, he was the leader of a notorious advanced high profile kidnapping gang that operated in Festac, Amuwo Odofin and Ojo areas of Lagos.

Evans was said to have developed the tactics of keeping his victims for up to 6 to 7 months in captivity until the victim’s family pays between 300 to 400 million naira ransoms in several installments before victims are released. Several wealthy Nigerians living in Festac and Amuwo Odofin areas of Lagos had to relocate to Ikoyi, Lekki and Victoria Island leaving their mansions empty for fear of Evans.

His kidnapping gang also operates in Port Harcourt, Bayelsa and Warri in Delta State. He is the mastermind in the attempted Kidnap of Chief Vincent Obianodo, owner of Young Shall Grow Motors which occurred in Festac in August of 2013.
