President Muhammadu Buhari is currently in Lagos state on a two-day working visit to commission some projects and also participate in the 66th birthday anniversary of national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. Based on his movements within the city, security operatives blocked major roads, subjecting residents to hardship. Many trekked several kilometres to their destinations while some were stranded. Also many who were billed to fly were seen dragging their luggage over long distances as they headed towards the airport to catch their flights, many of which were delayed. Some of the closed highways were ever-busy Lagos-Abeokuta expressway (both ways), Ikeja-Agege motor road, Mobolaji Bank Anthony-Airport road, among others.
Nigerians took to twitter to express their outrage
By the time y’all wake up, I hope you get to see this tweet that by 6:00am;
I trekked from Toyin Street to MM2 because Buhari is coming to lagos and Air-Peace in their underlying mercies have delayed my 10:00am flight to 4:00pm

I really don’t know why Lagos had to shutdown for President Buhari’s visit. He lives here in Abuja and moves around amongst us on a regular basis, and we have never had to shut down the city for one day.

I'm no campaign strategist, but I can give #PMBinLagos and APC some free advice here: pointlessly shutting down #Lagos, simultaneously annoying 20 million people, and getting policemen to rough up women for trying to use pedestrian bridges is a bit of an 'own goal'. https://t.co/N5VZ9J4dce

these policemen & lastma are literally telling people not to take the pedestrian bridge just because the president of the country wants to pass through…

Ambode is proof that you can go to the most prestigious schools, have extensive work experience & still end up incompetent & lack class.This is a chap who sanctioned horrifically designed looking road side boards with faces of Bode George, Olamide & co to celebrate Lagos@ 50.😂

Can't get to the studio this morning, because someone is in Lagos to open a glorified bus stop. Absolute nonsense.
