The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, has said that the new case of Coronavirus came in through British Airways.

The affected person, a 30-year-old Nigerian lady, who returned from the United Kingdom on March 13 is now at Mainland General Hospital receiving treatment.

Abayomi said passengers on the same flight with the UK-returnee should stay at home and self-isolate themselves for 14 days.
“Contact tracing of all passengers and all those who may have come in contact with this latest case has commenced,” he said.

This is the second confirmed case of coronavirus in Nigeria. The first confirmed case of the pandemic was announced on 27 February 2020, when an Italian citizen in Lagos tested positive  for the virus. On 9 March 2020, a second case of the virus was reported in Ewekoro, Ogun State a Nigerian citizen who had contact with the Italian citizen.

On 13 March 2020, Nigeria confirmed that the second case no longer had the virus in his system and thus tested negative.
