However, the internal turmoil remains unresolved, with the removal of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa causing deep divisions within the Assembly and the state’s political leadership.
Before announcing her resignation, several lawmakers took turns to commend Meranda for her legislative acumen, diligence, and effective leadership during her brief tenure.
Desmond Olusola Elliot, a member of the Assembly, praised Meranda for her steady leadership, expressing gratitude for her ability to navigate the House during turbulent times.
Another lawmaker, Temitope Adewale, representing Ifako-Ijaiye I, also lauded her contributions, emphasizing the impact she had in maintaining legislative order despite the crisis.
“We celebrate you for your quality service. You are a heroine of democracy. You came, you saw, you conquer. You are a victim of circumstance. This house is in tears,” the lawmaker said.
