Singer, Timi Dakolo is currently in the eye of the storm for performing his hit song, Great Nation, at the ceremony where former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, officially declared his interest in the 2023 presidential race.

His presence at the event, which held in Abuja, had sparked a trend on Twitter.

Some called him out for hobnobbing with a politician and compared his singing to that of former ex-Nigerian internationals gracing an event to mark the 70th birthday of the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu over the weekend.

A Tweep, Asiwaju Oladimeji said, “I don’t see anyone cancelling Timi Dakolo here. No insult, no curse. Same children of anger were all insulting Kanu and Okocha the other day when they visited Tinubu. Shameless hypocrites.”

LollyLarry on her part asked, “So, Timi Dakolo went to sing at Atiku’s declaration. Can we say it’s because of hunger?”

Chris tweeted, “Truth be told, if we see it okay that Timi Dakolo sings for Atiku declaration because he is a singer. Then we should have no issue with Taribo prayers for Tinubu. He is a pastor. What is good for the goose is also good for the….!”

On the same subject matter, Boluwatife tweeted, “I am very happy with the way the usual quarters have refused to cancel Timi Dakolo for singing at Atiku’s declaration. At least, they have subtly agreed that celebrities should work for the PDP alone.”
