She has been vilified for living in the shadows of colleagues, Kelly Rowland and Beyonce of former girl singing group, Destiny Child. In fact not many thought anything good would come out of Michelle who seems to be the quietest of the three, after the group disbanded.
But the unassuming singer has proved nay sayers wrong and is currently buzzing up everyone’s radar with her style game. Of the three, Michelle’s style has been one of demure and conservative, no one took note but now everyone is and she is lapping up all that attention.
Having realized the power of making style statements, Michelle took a drastic measure to change her wardrobe and hired the services of top stylist, J. Bolin who has been responsible for the myriad of colourful, striped, billowy and chic head wraps she has been adorning lately.
With her new style, Michelle has shown that she no longer lives in anyone’s shadows despite popular opinion. To celebrate her recent looks, she took to her instagram with the caption #PoorMichelle, in one of her IG glamour shots and wrote in an emotional post;
“It took me about two years to get to this place of PEACE and JOY. I just wanna continue to encourage you. You’re not alone!! We do have a responsibility too……my responsibility is to guard this peace and joy by setting BOUNDARIES!!!! Everyday is NOT gonna be peaches n cream but I can definitely make sure that my surroundings keep me thriving!!! I encourage you to do the same!”
No doubt, Michelle who has suffered from depression in the past as a result of the constant talking down on, isn’t allowing anymore pulling down from those who attempted to relegate her. She is rightfully taking her position among style slayers.
