Actress and entrepreneur, Mercy Aigbe-Gentry has decided to end her marriage to businessman and hotelier, Lanre Gentry , after he got her battered for not cooking for him and their son. According to sources, Mercy’s husband had given her money on Easter Sunday on his way out to cook some food and bring to his hotel in Oregun where he was expecting guests.
Hours after he got to the hotel, his wife, Mercy was yet to appear with the food and she wasn’t picking her calls. He later found out that she had gone for a party without preparing the food he asked her to or anything for their son to eat, who had to make do with pizza for the day. Later that night, on learning that his wife was at her designer friend’s home, {ceoluminee} went there and asked her to come home. She vehemently refused saying she was and that she was already tired of the marriage.
This infuriated Larry who beat Mercy to stupor as they both called each other names and Mercy vowing never to step into his cursed home again. After Larry left, Mercy was taken to a hospital and thereafter got an estate agent to get her an apartment at Magodo estate which she moved into within 48.
There are reports that the couple have just been tolerating each other as Mercy has been known to lament to people that she now shoulders the responsibilities of the home since her husband’s financial status dwindled drastically. In defense of Larry, his friends also say that Mercy has not been a faithful wife as well as Larry was always checking her calls and messages and as such, they are not surprised that the incidence of domestic violence happened.
Recall that years ago, the husband almost beat her because she disappeared at a nightclub where an event was held in her honour and her phone was suddenly switched off. They later made a video denying it.
There are also indications that Mercy had lost all fervor for her marriage due to her husband’s extra marital relationship with another lady who is a supposed friend of Mercy. The lady in question called Opemititi aka ‘Queen Stunner’ is a former model, former banker and currently an interior designer.
However, Lanre Gentry has denied the domestic violence accusation levelled against him since the photos of the battered face of his wife Mercy Aigbe surfaced. The businessman is tenaciously denying the claim. Not long after the news of a crack in his marriage surfaced, he took down his old post “say no to promiscuous and irresponsible women”, and shared the photo of him and his wife. “I love my wife,” he said. Then, in an exchange with a follower, he said he never assaulted his wife.
