Dino Melaye, lawmaker representing Kogi west, put up a show of bravery during the protest staged by some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja to INEC head office, Abuja. Led by Senate President Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara, speaker of the house of representatives, PDP chieftains stormed INEC head office over the Osun state governorship election asking INEC to declare Ademola Adeleke of the PDP as the winner of the election rather than Isiaka Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a video which has since gone viral, Dino Melaye was seen arguing with policemen stationed at the head office of the commission. About four officers shoved Melaye but the senator who branded a cap with the inscription: SDM (Senator Dino Melaye), stood his ground. At that point, his supporters in the crowd started chanting “Dino! Dino! Dino!”.
This is the video as best as we could get in the circumstances. We have a democratic right to peaceful protest and freedom of association. This act is unconscionable in a democracy. pic.twitter.com/wxmY9wWvFE
