Singer, Mel B, is allegedly set to offer her estranged husband, Stephen Belafonte, a private island and $8 million in order to settle their headline-grabbing divorce battle. This comes after it was claimed that Stephen is planning to drag the nanny he allegedly got pregnant into the divorce courts to be a witness against Mel.
The former Spice Girl has told her lawyers that Belafonte can receive the money and the hideaway in Virginia said to be worth 1 million pounds, if he agrees to the gagging order that comes with the settlement as well as to prevent any more harm being done to her kids.
There are indications that Belafonte wanted double but will likely settle for what is being offered because if he gets into a fight with her then her pockets are much deeper than his.
The 41 year old judge on AGT has demanded for the sole custody of their five-year-old daughter Madison, after initially saying she’d be prepared to share custody. But Belafonte insists on shared parental duties and reportedly wants £10 million of Brown’s estimated £48 million fortune.
Mel B’s decision to begin divorce proceedings last month, just 11 weeks before their ten year anniversary, could save the former Spice Girl millions. Under Californian law, she could have been forced to support Belafonte, 41, indefinitely had their marriage spanned a decade.
But now it’s likely the court will set the duration of support at half the marriage’s length.
