Former member of all girls singing group, Mel B has signed a deal to releases a tell-all book in which she will set the record straight following her bitter break-up from her abusive ex-husband, Stephen Belafonte and how she stayed silent for a decade. It will be a follow-up to her 2003 memoir, ‘Catching A Fire’.
Mel B reportedly hopes the memoir will help women learn how to break the chain of abuse after a whirlwind year. The new title is said to be called ‘Brutally Honest’ and is scheduled to be published in November. The America’s Got Talent Judge said of the autobiography: “I have kept silent for a decade, but after a very public court case, I want to set the record straight. This book will show that abuse can happen to anyone. It is important that my three girls, who I raise as a single mother, know how to break the chain of abuse along with any other woman who reads this book.”
It’s believed that Hardie Grant have snapped up the rights to publish the book, which will detail everything from her years of growing up on a council estate, to joining the Spice Girls. It also promises to delve into her relationships with domineering and controlling men. Rumours of Mel’s memoir first started in December with publishers eager for her to sign a deal. At the time, the mum-of-three was set to land up to a £5.2million ($7million) advance in the process if she agreed.
