That she has not been a happy woman for a very long time would be stating the obvious. She had thought the worse was over, when her late husband, former governor of Bayelsa State, Diepreye Solomon Peter Alamieyeseigha, completed his jail term in Nigeria and reunited with his family. She naturally felt the next step of action would be to pick up the pieces of her life and move on. Unknown to her, greater tragedy was lurking at the corner to strike. First, her younger son, Oyamieyifa, died under controversial circumstances in October 2014 in far away Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Then in early 2015, her first son, Tonbra broke up with his wife of only seven months on account of infidelity, after a dream wedding that was the talk of the town.

Not too long after, she had to undergo treatment for a life-threatening ailment that caused her so much pain. While still trying to come to terms with all that was happening, and in a most dramatic twist of fate, her husband who was widely referred to as the governor-general of the Ijaw nation, suddenly fell into a coma and never recovered. He died from cardiac arrest at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, perhaps as a result of news of an impending extradition by the British government to have him face trial for alleged money laundering for which he jumped bail in 2005 disguised as a woman.

No greater tragedy can a woman suffer and still come out strong. But Margaret Alamieyeseigha, the former first lady of Bayelsa State has dumbfounded many with her ability to weather the storm and still stand strong. Having been away from the public glare, she recently decided to prove to all that she is not only alive and well but has put the unfortunate incidences behind her, when she was spotted at a birthday party in Abuja that had a lot of politicians and business men and women in attendance. She looked like nothing that she had been through. She is back to her old bubbly self, radiating from within.
