The Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has said that Governors of South West in a recent meeting held in Lagos didn’t vote in favor of a clampdown on social media but agreed that the current cybercrime act should deal with issues in that regard.

Makinde, disclosed this on Tuesday while inaugurating the Oyo state Judicial Panel of Inquiry. According to the governor, the government at all levels needed to build the trust deficit and truly address the hunger and anger in the land rather than chasing after the shadow.

Governor Makinde, however, explained that about 50 petitions had been received and implored other residents who might have issues of human right violation, police brutality, and extrajudicial killings to seek redress with the just inaugurated panel of inquiry, adding that the death of Isiaka Jimoh, Ganiyu Moshood including others killed during the END SARS protest as well as the police officers murdered, would be thoroughly investigated and perpetrators would be brought to book.
