The statement signed by Rafiu Ajakaye, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, revealed that only the Secretary to the State Government Prof. Mamman Jubril retains his seat in the cabinet.

According to Ajakaye, the governor also directed the former cabinet members to hand over to the most senior officers in their respective ministries.

“His Excellency especially commends the Honourable cabinet members for their contributions to the development of the state while also wishing them the best in their future endeavours,” the statement said.

It would be recalled that the cabinet members were sworn in on December 14, 2019, and was tagged the most gender-friendly selection in Nigeria comprising at least 56.25% of females.

Among the commissioners sacked was 26-year-old Joana Nnazua Kolo. The 2018 graduate of Library science from Kwara State University, was a serving youth corper when she was nominated by the governor to serve in his cabinet. This also made her the youngest commissioner-nominee in the state’s history and in Nigeria in general.

The total overhaul is coming four months after the commissioner for Special Duties, Hajia Aisha Ahman Pategi resigned from the cabinet and barely two weeks after the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Prof Wale Suleiman also resigned.

Hajia Ahman Pategi at inception was commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs before she was controversially redeployed to Special Duties.
