Kim Kardashian’s company, Kimsapriness Inc. alongside LuMee, a selfie smart phone  case, have been hit with a $100m lawsuit by rival Snap Light claiming it is a rip off of their product. According to Daily Mail, Snap Light is claiming that a man named Hooshmand Harooni first invented the illuminated smart phone case, filed the patent in 2013 and licensed his invention to their company. They are now accusing LuMee of ripping off their product and claiming Kardashian is robbing them of profits because she endorses the product on social media.

They are also accusing LuMee of bullying them into removing their selfie case from the market. Snaplight and Harooni claim they haven’t been able to compete in the illuminated selfie case market because of Kim Kardashian’s endorsement of LuMee. Both companies products retail for roughly the same price, which is around $70. Snaplight has asked the court to force Kardashian to stop promoting the LuMee brand of phone cases, claiming she gets a cut of the company’s earnings.  They are also asking for $100 million in damages to make up for their lost profits.

Kim has been very vocal with her promotion of the LuMee product which boasts of taking perfect selfies and regularly mentions it to her hundreds of millions of followers. She is pictured dozens of times on her account posing for photos using the device and also used it to take selfies with Hillary Clinton during the election campaign.

A representative of Kim Kardashian has said that the patent lawsuit filed by Snap Light has no merit and is just another attempted shakedown. It added that Kim has done absolutely nothing wrong.
