The Senior Pastor of the Nagarta Baptist Church, Ungwan Makere, in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Rev Elisha Numan, has regained his freedom from his captors after 15 days.

The cleric was abducted in his house on Wednesday August 14, 2019, alongside his son, Emmanuel. Although the son was later released. The abductors later called the family through Emmanuel to demand a N20m ransom. The bandits later reduced the ransom from N20m to N7m.

But a family source said the pastor was set free on Saturday after the payment of an undisclosed amount of money as ransom.
“Our brother has been released by the kidnappers on Saturday evening after we paid the ransom. Since security agencies seemed to be helpless in tackling these criminals, we can only pray to God to visit His wrath upon the criminals,” he said.

The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Kaduna state, Rev. Joseph Hayab, confirmed the release of the pastor on Sunday.
