The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo chapter has ordered all chapels to boycott all activities of former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode currently on tour in the State.

The decision is a fall out of Fani-Kayode verbal assault on Daily Trust Reporter, Eyo Charles in Calabar last week, which generated uproar from the media sector.

The statement jointly signed by the body urged all chapels to shun the ex-minister’s tour in the State. It noted that the Union will not be part of the visit.

The statement read, “Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Oyo state chapter has asked its members to boycott a former minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode’s press conference as he “visits” the state today in continuation of his ” tour”.

All journalists in Oyo state have been directed by the NUJ Chairman, Ademola Babalola to boycott any press conference called by Chief Femi Fani-Kayode in continuation of his tour to PDP controlled states.

This directive was issued by the NUJ chairman on Monday while featuring on a live programme in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state.

This is coming days after the former minister, during a media briefings with some of the journalists after a recent tour of some South-South and southeast states, blasted a journalist with Daily Trust, Eyo Charles, who asked him who was bankrolling his trips around PDP controlled states.
Femi Fani-Kayode would later withdraw the word stupid which he called the journalist and eventually apologised to him.
