A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) leader in Lagos State, Joe Igbokwe has revealed that his house in Nnewi, Anambra State has been burnt down by suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Igbokwe, who made this known via his Facebook account, stating that the incident occurred today, Sunday, October 3rd, 2021. He added that IPOB were behind the attack.
He wrote, “IPOB invaded my house in Nnewi about now. I am sure they raised down my house giving the jerrycans of petrol I saw being offloaded from their Sienna car via CCTV.
“To God be the glory. I am still alive. My study is my greatest regret.”
Joe Igbokwe has been vocal in his criticism of alleged violence by IPOB, a proscribed group led by Nnamdi Kanu.
Earlier this year, the APC chieftain revealed that the IPOB leader asked his men to behead him anywhere he is found.
Anambra state has in the past few days witnessed an increase in attacks on prominent figures of the state.
It can be recalled that earlier this week, Dr Chike Akunyili was murdered by unknown gunmen while returning from a function, a murder that Joe Igbokwe blamed on IPOB.
Another prominent doctor, Lawrence Ezenwa was also murdered in Ukpor, Nnewi.
